I don’t like Taylor Swift.
Along with a number of other singers/songwriters, but I think we can all agree that she’s the most notable for the following.
I don’t really care if it “helps her deal with her breakups” or whatever; the frequency at which she sends the message that its okay to call someone a monster, merely because you couldn’t make a relationship work, is disturbing.
Seriously though. I feel like she’s constantly putting out this message that if a guy breaks your heart, you’re allowed to spend forever bashing him, and telling everyone that he’s a bad person.
I fail to understand how that’s not straight-up bullying. And have we not learned from the news and from our friends or even just vague acquaintances that there are people that end up getting so much hate that they feel like the only way out is to kill themselves?
Exhibiting that kind of malevolence and causing emotional harm to any person is not okay, regardless of how many pop icons try to tell you that it is.
There is nothing more irritating and moment-shattering than when a song has a deep significance to you, and then that one person is all
“I get credit for everything it means to you, because I showed it to you!”
“OMG tell us everything!”
Heh. Hehe. Story of my day. And I don’t even think I mind :)

Most brilliantly-worded advice of the day.

On a night like this, I need to be comforted. Not necessarily by words, but by the presence of someone next to me.
